What we doThe Friends of the PracticeThe Friends aims are to assist individual surgeries in providing help with some basic support for less able patients. This includes transport to the surgery, hospital visits or other important appointments and telephone befriending also. We have volunteers helping in the following practices:
Knitting ProjectRSVP Dorset East have over 50 knitters involved in producing garments which are distributed by Samaritans Purse to disadvantaged children in Eastern Europe; in addition to which they also knit for Poole Hospital NHS Trust children's and maternity wards. Book ClubsOur RSVP Organisers run book club get togethers, which are held monthly in local libraries. Coffee MorningsRSVP run coffee mornings every Friday in Old Rope Walk, Blandford Road, Hamworthy, to which a Volunteer Driver can take anybody who enjoys the friendly company of people their own age and outlook on life. Schools ProjectWe have volunteers helping in schools assisting in whatever capacity
the school has need of. This is usually listening to children reading
and helping them when they are having problems. What could be more rewarding
than watching a child's confidence and ability grow. |
